Friday Café Ruthrieston Community Centre

Friday Café ☕

Our Friday Café is the perfect weekly stop for a warm welcome, a good cuppa, and even better company. Join us every Friday from 11:00am to 3:00pm for tea, coffee, soup, board games and plenty of friendly chat. Whether you come to relax, meet new people or simply enjoy a cosy atmosphere, there’s always a seat waiting for you!

Repair Café

Repair Café 🔧

The Repair Café takes place on the third Friday of every month from 12:00pm to 2:30pm. Bring along any items that need a little TLC, whether it’s a jumper you’d love to fix but can’t thread the needle, or a necklace missing the right tools. Our volunteers will help repair them for free, and you’ll even get to see how it’s done while enjoying a cup of tea. So gather up your “to-do” pile and drop by our Community Centre!

If you fix things yourself and you’d be interested in helping others learn how to make some repairs, get in touch, we’d love some help!

Book club Ruthrieston Community Centre

Book club 📚

Our Book Club takes place on the last Friday of every month and is a relaxed, friendly space for anyone who loves a good read and great conversation. Each session is a chance to discover new stories, share thoughts, and connect with fellow book lovers in the community. The books are provided free of charge through the library, so there’s no need to buy anything. Whether you’re an avid reader or just getting back into books, you’re very welcome to join us!

Gardening group Ruthrieston Community Centre

Gardening club 🧑‍🌾

Don’t have a garden but want to do a bit of hands-on gardening? Don’t worry there will be no heavy lifting or digging, it’s a bit of an excuse for us to all get outside in the fresh air with a cup of tea and sit in the garden with a wee bit of planting thrown in. Sounds like fun? Then come along to see us.

art class

Gentle art group 🎨

If you have been afraid to take part in art but wanted to express yourself, come to the very gentle art classes led by Maddie. The materials are free, as is the parking and refreshments. Come and give it a go, you will be proud of what you produce by the end of the class. Our Gentle art group takes place every Friday.

Winter Gritting Volunteer Team ❄️

Our Gritting Volunteer Team plays a vital role in helping keep the centre open in colder months. These dedicated volunteers ensure pathways remain safe so our community can continue to access activities and services throughout winter. All PPE is provided, and grit is supplied by the council. It’s a simple but highly valued way to support your local community and make a real difference.
