Come along to our Screening of the National Emergency Briefing, Thursday 25 September

Thursday 25 September 2026
7.00 pm to 9.00 pm
Ruthrieston Community Centre

Ruthrieston Community Centre is pleased to host a local screening of the National Emergency Briefing, an event designed to encourage open discussion about some of the biggest environmental challenges facing the UK today.

This community screening will bring people together to explore the latest evidence on climate change and biodiversity loss, while creating an opportunity to reflect on what these issues mean for our local communities and for the country as a whole.

Across the UK, community groups, businesses, local authorities and organisations are hosting similar events to help make this important conversation accessible to more people. The aim is to encourage informed discussion and greater understanding of the choices that lie ahead.

Why attend?

Climate change and the decline of nature are already having an impact on everyday life, affecting areas such as public health, food production, infrastructure, the economy and local communities. Understanding these challenges is an important first step towards building resilience and exploring practical solutions together.

The screening offers a chance to learn more about the evidence behind these issues and to take part in conversations that can help shape a more sustainable future.

About the film

The presentation includes a 50 minute film featuring expert scientific insights alongside the experiences and reflections of members of the public. By combining factual information with personal perspectives, the film aims to make complex environmental issues easier to understand and more relevant to everyday life.

Rather than focusing only on the challenges, the film also highlights the opportunities that can come from taking meaningful action, including benefits for communities, the economy and future generations.

Many people who have already attended previous screenings have described leaving with a greater understanding of the issues, but also with a renewed sense of hope and a feeling that positive change is possible when communities work together.
